Open Up, PAF! Opening & Kick-Off Party!
Over the course of six days, the Berlin Performing Arts Festival makes the heart of the German capital beat faster and invites the audience to experience all genres of the performing arts with productions ranging from theater, dance and performance to figure theater, object theater, music theater, new circus and site-specific events. Music robots, the Virgin Mary, Adam and Eve as well as futuristic cyborgs will come together at well-known performance venues, small stages and extraordinary locations throughout the city. Contemporary performance will meet classic monologues, the political questions of our times will be juxtaposed with moving bodies, theatrical spectacles will meet intimate dialogues and burlesque will meet aerial artistry.
The festival team, representatives of LAFT – Landesverband freie darstellende Künste Berlin and the State Secretary for Culture Dr. Torsten Wöhlert will open the Berlin Performing Arts Festival at the Weekend Club high above the city on the 15th floor at 8:30 pm. This meet and greet event on the rooftop will be accompanied by the electro Latin summer chill styling of Colombian musician Miahush. The evening will be moderated by Claudia Wiedemer.

From 10:00 pm on, the party Open Up, PAF! starts! The Berlin band DZAIJL, a Spandex cover band with spectacular hairstyles and a touch of Cha Cha Cha, will perform their hits from the 1950s through 1970s, covering giants such as Nancy Sinatra, Ray Charles, Nina Hagen and Kool 6 The Gang. Their repertory is uncompromising, intoxicating and pure rock and roll, particularly thanks to the bombastic wind instrument arrangements of band founder Karen “Screaming" Bolange.
The audience is warmly invited to the subsequent Sixties Club by DJ CHAMELEON to dance until dawn with the artists and all participants in the festival.
